Top 10 Things to Pack for a Day at Walt Disney World

We can’t believe it’s been over a year since we’ve moved to Central Florida! Now that we live minutes from the parks, we have the unique opportunity to visit the Mouse every few days. Sometimes, we would pack too many things. Sometimes, we were missing the essentials (like sunscreen, yikes!). We finally have a list of items that we typically bring. Need some ideas on what to bring into the parks? These are the items that can be found in our bag:

1. MagicBands/Tickets

It’ll be kind of difficult to get into the parks without these items. We forgot a MagicBand once, but luckily we noticed it was missing while we were 2 minutes from home. Whoops!

2. Sunscreen

This is a staple for us. Orlando is hot year round. The sun is brutal. It is not fun having sunburn. We always put sunscreen on before we leave home, and again in the afternoon if needed. Better be safe than sorry!

3. Lip balm

This is also something that we commonly forget. Lips can get dried out in the sun too. Lip balm is a life saver! Try to get one with SPF for added protection.

4. Hat

A hat is another way to protect your head and face from the sun. It’s also a great way to keep your head warm during the winter. Yes, it can get a little chilly at night.

5. Sunglasses

This seems obvious but trust me, we’ve forgotten sunglasses too before. It was awful! Put your sunglasses on a pair of croakies so they will stay on your neck while on rides.

6. Poncho/Rain coat

A rain coat is a must-have during the summer (our rainy season) in Florida. There are afternoon showers during the summer. There are still storms during the rest of the year that seem to pop up within a moment’s notice. Check the forecast before you leave your hotel to determine if it’s necessary to bring a rain coat.

7. Camera

Whether you’re using a fancy camera or your phone’s camera, always bring your camera. There are so many opportunities to take pictures. Whether we go once or several times a year, we always take pictures to remember that day in the parks.

8. Phone

Always bring your cell phone and be sure to have already downloaded the MyDisneyExperience app from the App Store! This is a handy way to select FastPasses, make dining reservations, find quick service locations, character meet and greets, and so much more. This app is the best opportunity you have to make sure you don’t miss anything going on that day!

9. Camelback

Did you know that you can bring camelbacks into the parks? You can! We ALWAYS bring our camelbacks with us in the summer. It can get so hot walking around. The best way for us to stay hydrated is to have easy access to water…hence our camelbacks! Just a tip – you can always ask for free water cups at any dining location if you prefer to not carry a camelback or water bottle.

10. Trading Pins

If you are a pin trader, don’t forget your trading pins! We don’t bring our trading pins on every trip to the parks but we do occasionally. There have been times that we didn’t bring our pins and some elusive pin boards were on display! It’s a great way to pass the time between rides.
